Moderne Troubadour's Musings
Future Unveiling…

So as much as I love this blog, I felt like it didn’t clearly speak to my “brand”.  That while I understand the aesthetics of what, who, and where the “Moderne Troubadour” is coming from that in order for me to eventually gain an audience I really needed something that spoke out to all kinds of people.  So within the next month or so I will be perfecting my new blog site(s) (because you know it’s good to be on Twitter and etc.-haha).  But until then, and even continuing after the “Moderne Troubadour” will remain fully functional.  Just under different pretense.

Lately I have been absolutely obsessing over Ms. Lana Del Rey (Lizzy Grant), I find her somber jazzy pipes can be quite dramatic and surprising.  Of course it so happens that I am one of those fans that found her after her SNL performance, which after all is said and done was not as bad as “they” say.  Nerves or not, the girl has more talent and class than the average young starlet out there, and she really is the ultimate poster board girl for American icon (I know this has been stated elsewhere, but some facts are worth repeat).

The base is Angel food cake + cinnamon chocolate frosting + red sprinkles and strawberries to add the finishing touch.

A+O really just hits that sweet little note for me.  Girly and whimsical in a neat little package with a bow on top.  Simple clean lines+fun vivid patterns, textures, and colors=jackpot (you won my heart).  It’s like being handed the most amazing pastry, the kind that’s too pretty too eat!

RL really went for it this year with his Fall 2012 collection.  I think in the past decade or so he has really reached his prime, and finessed his craft.  No other man embodies Americana fashion in such a refined, impeccable, and sophisticatedly chic way.  Bravo Ralph!  Favorites by far, the bold pink dresses, dapper suiting with perfect bowler hats, and those lovely velvet numbers.  <3 <3 <3

I recently discovered that Target would be featuring this South African’s hats as their iconic cheap find, and upon googling and browsing through his fabulous old school-yet refreshingly modern designs, and amazing resume to boot, I have once again fallen in love.

Anyone who knows me knows I have a weak spot for the art of the hat.  Call me a mad hatter, but you can never have enough hats with such an array of emotions.  Is it an Indian Jones day, or basking in the sun in the 1920s?

Style…

Trying to define your style is like trying to choose one really great french pastry…they all look so beautiful, but you know inevitably that one of them is precisely the one for you, but it takes a damned long time to make a decision, and sometimes not so long, which is why style comes in all kinds of shapes, sizes, colors and patters, so on and so forth…and every once in a while we like to try something new…after all if we ate eclairs every day, though we would enjoy them, we would get fed up, and crave something else…
